SCROOMS The Next Step Quest: Statues and Ocarina

Last updated 2026-10-11Unofficial player article

Find Halden, register respects at all five Grove Statues in any order, and return for the Ocarina before using its songs.

The Next Step in SCROOMS sends you to Halden, then asks you to Pay Respects at five Grove Statues and return to him. The reward is the Ocarina, the song tool that begins your utility-melody progression.

SCROOMS five Grove Statue interactionsThe video demonstrates paying respects at the statues used by The Next Step.

Reach Halden after the opening tutorial

Complete Leo's initial catching, selling, and guitar sequence before following his direction onward. Halden is in Songkeeper’s Grove beside a log, campfire, and red tents. He is an NPC to speak to, so this quest is a navigation and interaction task rather than a search for a creature named Halden.

Talk to him to move into the statue objective. Read the Quest Log after the conversation so you know which part of the task is currently active before walking around the Grove.

Find HaldenSpeak at his Grove campStart the statue task
Pay RespectsInteract with five distinct statuesRegister every required location
ReturnSpeak to Halden againReceive the Ocarina reward

Approach each statue and use Pay Respects, with E on keyboard. Looking at the statue or walking past it is not the requested interaction. You can visit them in any order, so begin with whichever landmark is easiest to recognize from your current position.

Use the five-statue location guide for the landmarks. Keeping a simple list of the ones already interacted with is more useful than repeatedly revisiting the most obvious statue while one remains missing.

Return for the Ocarina

When all five interactions are complete, go back to Halden and speak to him. The return conversation finishes the reward step. Unlocking the Ocarina is associated with the Magic Melody badge, but the practical benefit is the song tool itself.

Open the Ocarina after it appears in the later hotbar slot and look at its songs. Homeward Melody returns you to your set spawn point. Use the Ocarina guide for the tool's role, and the return-song walkthrough when you are ready to play the melody.

Track The Next Step in the SCROOMS experience as you register the five visits.
