SCROOMS Instruments Guide: Early Gear and Its Roles

Last updated 2026-10-11Unofficial player article

Browse four early catching instruments, separate control from frequency reach, and equip owned gear while keeping the Ocarina’s role distinct.

SCROOMS catching instruments shape tuning, control, and the frequencies you can reach. The opening progression includes the Wooden Lute, Tamer’s Guitar, Adventurer’s Tambourine, and Violin of Pilgrimage; the Ocarina has a separate job as a song tool.

This directory covers those four early catching choices. Treat them as a useful progression group, rather than a claim that every instrument in the game appears here. Your next purchase should solve a catching problem you actually have or help with the target you want to pursue.

Compare control before chasing a bigger Luck value

Precision widens the catch zone, Harmony steadies its movement, and Tension makes the creature follow your marker more closely. Those attributes affect the encounter you have already attracted. Luck concerns rare attraction, while Tune Speed shortens the setup stage.

If you frequently lose the same kind of catch after tuning, focus on control. If tuning is comfortable but a target sits outside your instrument's reach, inspect Resonance instead. You can read each attribute's job in the instrument stats reference.

Keep acquisition and equipping separate

Leo gives the Wooden Lute in the opening quest. Julian's introductory guitar offer provides the first purchase tutorial. Once you own an instrument, open the Equipment Bag's Instruments tab, select it, equip it, and close the bag before returning to catching.

The Ocarina is obtained through Halden's statue task. It plays songs such as Homeward Melody and is not another rung in the same catching comparison. Use the Ocarina guide when your question is about songs or return travel, and the instrument comparison when you are deciding where your catching budget should go.
