SCROOMS Scroomdex Guide: Read the Index and Choose Catches

Last updated 2026-10-11Unofficial player article

Open the Index, use silhouette-card rarity and frequency, track area discoveries, and separate mutations from missing species.

The SCROOMS Scroomdex is tracked through the Index, opened from hotbar slot 3. Choose an area page, inspect a missing creature card, and use its rarity and frequency information to decide what you should try to catch next.

SCROOMS Index and collection progressionThe player explains how collection targets fit into instrument and region progression.

Turn the silhouette into a target

An uncaught creature appears as a black silhouette labeled ???, but its card still shows rarity and a frequency range. That information is useful even before you know the name. It tells you which kind of entry is missing and lets you compare the target with your instrument's reach.

Work on one area page at a time. The Index separates the roster by region, and undiscovered areas can remain behind ??? tabs until you find them. An unopened region tab is therefore a different problem from a creature missing on a region page you already have.

Keep discovery separate from repeat catching

A familiar species can still be useful for Chimes or a quest, but it is a different task from filling an unnamed card. Before another long catching session, decide whether you need money or a new discovery. That decision keeps you from expecting the same catches to solve every progression goal.

The roster includes mutation prefixes such as Melodic, Harmonic, Mossy, and Blazing. These describe variants of species rather than additional base-species names. Read the base name when comparing a catch with the entry you wanted to fill.

Use the Grove as a manageable checklist

Songkeeper’s Grove includes Common creatures such as Redcap, Bluebell, Gloombell, and Toastbud, then higher-rarity targets through Koroom at Fabled. Choosing a missing entry here is a concrete starting task before you spread attention across other regions.

If the target lies beyond your catching tool's frequency reach, compare Resonance and progression options in the instrument directory. If you can reach the encounter but lose it during the minigame, work on catch-zone control. Those are different reasons for an entry to stay missing, and each has a different next action.

Open the Index in the SCROOMS experience while comparing your missing entries.
