SCROOMS Controls: Tuning, Catching, and Equipment
Use the frequency slider, control the mushroom marker, recognize the hotbar menus, and interact with Grove Statues on keyboard.
SCROOMS uses separate inputs for timing, frequency tuning, and the catching marker. Hold and drag the frequency slider during tuning, then drag the creature into the catch zone; on keyboard, Grove Statues use E for Pay Respects.
Match the input to the screen you are on
| Screen or object | Input | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Frequency slider | Hold and drag its handle | Find the creature frequency |
| Catch zone | Drag the creature marker | Keep progress increasing |
| Grove Statue | Pay Respects; E on keyboard | Register a statue interaction |
| Equipment Bag | Select Instruments, equip, close | Change your active catching gear |
The important change happens between the waveform display and the catching bar. During tuning, you are adjusting frequency. During catching, you are controlling the mushroom marker relative to a moving zone. Trying to move the zone instead of the creature can undo an otherwise successful tuning attempt.
Timing feedback includes Good! and Perfect!. Read that feedback as a response to the timing action, then continue with the next displayed control. Repeating the same timing action after the screen changes will not substitute for following the creature during the catch.
Keep the four opening menus distinct
The hotbar contains your instrument, Equipment Bag, Index, and Quest Log. Use the instrument to start catching; use the bag to change owned gear; use the Index to inspect discoveries; use the log to read your current objective. The Ocarina occupies a later fifth slot after its unlock quest.
For an instrument change, open the Equipment Bag's Instruments tab, select an owned instrument, equip it, and close the bag. Opening the Index does not equip a better instrument, and buying one does not complete that equipment step for you.
Use the displayed prompt for interactions
Approach a Grove Statue and use Pay Respects, with E as the confirmed keyboard interaction. NPC conversations and other interfaces should be operated through their displayed interaction prompts rather than assuming every action shares one shortcut.
This control reference focuses on the demonstrated tuning gestures, menu functions, and statue key. When your screen presents touch buttons or a controller prompt, use the label shown there. For a particular catching failure, the catching guide explains what the progress bar means and which movement to correct.
Compare these inputs with the prompts displayed in the official Roblox game.
